What is equinox meaning?

Equinox refers to the two moments in a year when the length of day and night are almost equal all over the planet. This happens twice a year, around March 20th-21st and September 22nd-23rd. During the equinox, the Earth's axis is not tilted towards or away from the sun, making the day and night almost equal in duration. This astronomical event has cultural and religious significance in many cultures and is celebrated in various ways around the world. The equinox is the beginning of spring in the Northern Hemisphere and autumn in the Southern Hemisphere.
